Professionalism and passion for our work: these are the strengths of our company bee, the honey produced from hives placed in areas of particular value to the mountain, in fact, much care is taken in the choice of sites for apiaries privileging of environments far from urban centres and from any possible source of pollution. We exercise with about 150 hives beekeeping nomad: each flowering we move the beehives in various areas, then with great attention and care, we follow the work of industrious bees that turn the nectar present in the plants and flowers in honey, dust particles into the hives. Finally, we take this crop, the smieliamo and the invasettiamo, so it is without.

The bee is for us a vector that allows us to follow the status of the health of the environment is an insect, belonging to the family of hymenoptera.

The Italian bee is thehoney bee licustica lto his life is very short, living only 40-45 days, while thequeen bee can live up to 5 years. In this short lifetime, the bee performs many tasks for the hive, for this reason it is often called bee workers. There are:

  • the bees suckler, which feed on small larvae;
  • the api street cleaners who keep clean the hive;
  • the bees with their wings ensure that the ventilation by adjusting the temperature according to the external climate;
  • the bees that build cells of wax, that are used to store their stocks of food and to lay eggs of the queen;
  • the api explorers who seek new fields rich in pollen and nectar from the haul;
  • the bees that care and feed the queen;
  • the api guardians who defend the hive from predators;
  • the foraging bees that collect nectar, pollen, propolis, and water.

It is a world organized in the smallest details of the api. For example, to help the work, the foraging bees after suggato the nectar from the flower, they leave a smell on it, so that another bee do not waste time to visit that flower, already emptied of nectar.

To make 1 Kg of honey the bees must visit over one million flowers. For each flight (route hive - the flower hive) are from 30 to 40 minutes, make up to 20 flights a day, they go up to 8 Km from the apiary in search of flowers, and they can fly at a speed of 15-20 Km / h.

The load which can withstand a bee return to the hive is 15 mg of pollen, which settles in the pockets of the paws) and 40 mg of nectar, which carries in the bag melaria.

The bees love the bright colours, in particular yellow, and, generally, not attack the white (which is why those are the colors of the overalls of the beekeepers). Vice versa, they do not see dark colors, such as black and blue, and then they attack because they fail to identify it. Also, they are attracted as magnets by the fabrics of wool or velvet. When bees attack they are aware of having to die; for the bee, unlike the wasp, the sting and the sting is guts, then dies.

In the autumn and winter the number of bees in a family decreases drastically compared to the other periods of the year, this is because the queen lays more eggs until the beginning of spring. The few bees that make up the family to gather to form a small cluster around the queen and the little bees, type, covered, and warmed each other, taking place. This continued until the arrival of spring when the queen begins again to lay eggs. So begins a new year of uninterrupted work for a small insect that gives us so much.

The Drone

The Drone is the male bee, has no stinger and does not go on the flowers. His only task is to fertilize the queen. It is larger than the ape, and goes flying up to 15 Km to mate with virgin queen bees. The drone is free to enter in all the hives of the apiary to feed, unlike the bee that knows how to recognize its hive. Already towards the end of August, the drones decrease in number, because the virgin queen bees are almost all fertile.

The Queen Bee

Is the mother of the bees, of drones, it is the largest of the bee, and the drone, more tapered and with the wings longer. She never leaves the hive, if not to mate with the drones when it is born, or for swarming in the spring.
The whole life of the hive takes place around it. The queen bee lays over 2,000 eggs per day, from spring to summer, thus ensuring a replacement efficient api and a strong family for the collection. A good family is composed from 50,000 to 90,000 bees in the period of blooms.
